These new robots from Disney Imagineering are straight out of Star Wars

Disney Imagineering, the innovative division of Disney, has developed an adorable new robot. This robot can walk independently and maintain its balance even when faced with challenges like being pushed or navigating difficult terrain. It's equipped with antennas that move like cat ears and a head that can express emotions through various movements.

Constructed primarily using 3D printing, this robot was created by a team from Disney Research in Zurich in less than a year. Its purpose extends beyond mere locomotion; it's designed to convey emotions akin to a genuine character.

Disney collaborated with artists to ensure the robot's movements were expressive yet stable. They devised a specialized training method to quickly teach the robot new tasks. While the robot bears a resemblance to characters from popular movies, it won't be making appearances in Disney Parks anytime soon. Nonetheless, the advancements in this technology are remarkable. Perhaps one day, we'll witness similar robots freely roaming Disneyland, bringing a touch of magic to life in a whole new way.
