Don’t Miss Out On the Fun — Here’s How to Rider Switch at Walt Disney World Theme Parks
Enjoy the rides, even with a tired little one
If a kiddo doesn’t meet the height requirement or someone in your party doesn’t want to board an attraction, no problem! With Rider Switch, one adult can wait with the non-rider (or riders) while the rest of the group enjoys the attraction. When the other adult returns, they can supervise the non-riding guests, and the waiting adult can board the attraction without having to wait in the regular line again.
Rider Switch is available at most attractions at all 4 Walt Disney World Resort parks.
To Use Rider Switch:
Check with a cast member to confirm that Rider Switch is offered.
Once at the attraction, go to the greeter with your entire party. At least one adult member of your party and the guests who are not riding will be issued a Ride Switch (by scanning your MagicBands) by the cast member and they’ll wait in a designated area (usually outside of the attraction). This group is “Party 2.”
The other guests, “Party 1”, ride the attraction.
After riding the attraction, Party 1 locates Party 2. Then, Party 1 takes over supervision of the non-riding children.
Party 2 boards the attraction without having to wait in the regular queue a second time. The Rider Switch entitlement must be validated by a cast member.
Also, if the person in Party 2 waited alone with the child or non-riding guest, one guest may join the person that waited alone so that they can ride with a friend/family member.
All Rider Switch guests must be in a Virtual Queue boarding group or have an individually purchased Lightning Lane for the attraction before boarding.
Rider Switch is available at all 4 Walt Disney World Resort theme parks. Here’s a list for each park:
