10 Stroller Packing Tips for Disney
Most strollers fit well in the Skyliners
I love Disney so much that I actually look forward to packing for our trips. Packing isn’t one of those daunting tasks for me and I’d love to offer some advice and recommendations as you begin packing for your upcoming trip.
When traveling with children under 7, I recommend bringing (or renting) a stroller. Disney days are the longest (but also the most magical) days and it can be super exhausting for younger kids. We took our daughter to Disney when she was 6 and made the mistake of not having a stroller, and in turn we had our fair share of meltdowns that may have been avoided entirely had we rented a stroller for her to relax in when it became too much.
I’ve broken down our stroller must-haves below and included affiliate links for your reference. If you’re shopping my finds, I appreciate you allowing me to earn a small commission for our family (which is also no additional cost to you!)
1) Disney approved stroller. There’s a section on Disney’s website that includes all the rules regarding strollers, including sizes that are permitted. There’s also information on renting strollers once you’re in the Disney Parks, or there’s always an option to look into stroller rental companies in Orlando which surprisingly offer very affordable options.
2) Stay hydrated. We always pack our Stanley tumbler and quencher for our trips. We love the Disney straw toppers, too. I love getting Disney’s refillable mugs each trip, but it’s necessary to bring our own to keep our drinks cold in the Florida heat, AND these also make it really easy for us to identify our stroller when we park it to go on rides.
3) Sanitizing Wipes. And hand & face wipes. We use these gentle (but effective) wipes that are alcohol and paraben-free and put them in the stroller pockets, as well as our diaper bag. We use these at restaurants, after riding rides, throughout our travel day at the airport including on the plane, and we’re basically using them constantly.
4) Sun (& rain) Protection. We always pack sunscreen, sunglasses, a light blanket for shade (or to lay on the hub grass for a picnic at Magic Kingdom), a stroller cover for rainy park days, and a few disposable ponchos. If you’d rather take the sustainable route, during our last trip we bought slightly nicer Frogg Toggs ponchos that we rolled up in our stroller after using and they worked great. We each had a different color and everyone seemed to like this route. If you forget to pack any of these items, be prepared to spend a pretty penny for them in the parks.
5) Stroller Fan. And let’s just add a neck fan for the parents. We can’t get through a day at Disney without fans for all. Florida is HOT and you don’t realize exactly how hot until you’re in the heat sweating from head to toe and for me, I was so hot during our September trip last year that I passed out in line at the Enchanted Tiki Room. So don’t make the same mistake and take the neck fan, stroller fan, all the fans (or cooling towels) that make sense to keep the members of your family cool.
6) Change of Clothes. And this goes for Mom and baby. I usually do a great job of packing for my son, but of course the times I neglect to pack an extra shirt for me are the instances that he decides to wipe his grimy hands on my shirt or spits up all over me. Whatever the case may be, just make sure Mama has an extra change of clothes, too!
7) Changing Pad for Diaper Changes. Disney does a great job of keeping restrooms clean, but a restroom is still a restroom and you will want that changing pad for your little babe. I’ve found some really nice disposable changing pads that we’ll use occasionally, but most times we just use the one that can with our diaper bag.
8) Portable Charger. If it’s not you, it will be your spouse or kids - but trust me, you will not want to forget a portable charger. Even if at home you can go all day without a charge and still have 60%, that will not work at Disney when you’re capturing all of the special moments on your phone, accessing the My Disney Experience app to look at ride times or book Lightning Lanes, mobile ordering, etc. you will use your phone more than you think, so don’t forget the charger.
9) Snacks. It doesn’t matter how old you are, when someone gets cranky, the first line of defense is snacks. Packing snacks for our son is a must. Especially if he’s getting cranky but we still have 45 minutes til our lunch reservation. And aside from just him, I typically pack applesauce pouches, Clif kid granola bars, Bambas peanut butter puffs, Cheerios and a pack of gum to have on hand for everyone in our party because everyone needs snacks and no one wants to be hangry at Disney.
10) Medicine. Consider just how painful your feet may get after walking 7 miles at Disney in a day! Pack the Tylenol,Ibuprofen, Tums, for us - the Lactaid pills so we can enjoy our Mickey Ice Creams, and also we usually pack motion sickness medicine for our Epcot day so we don’t get sick riding Remy’s Ratatouille and Guardians of the Galaxy. Unfortunately, the older I’ve gotten the more prone I’ve become to motion sickness – but the older I’ve gotten, I’ve also become more prepared for all of the potential ailments one would experience during a day at Disney, so there’s that!
