The Best Disney Rides for Baby on Board

Living with the Land

Living with the Land

The first time we took our son to Disney he was almost 9 months old. It wasn’t our easiest trip by any means, but we made the most of our days at Disney and worked around his 2-nap schedule and early bedtime. We realized we were all better off when he got his naps!

One thing that surprised me was how much there was to do at Disney for babies and how easy Disney makes it to nurse, change diapers and entertain babies. Cast members made our trip even more magical by singing to our son, showing him special attention, and overall just being super accommodating. As a Disney adult, it kind of dawned on me - Wow! This place really is made for kids!

If I were to rank the parks from 1 being extremely great with babies to 4 being extremely stressful with babies, I would probably rank them:

  1. Magic Kingdom

  2. Epcot

  3. Hollywood Studios

  4. Animal Kingdom

Let me start by saying that Animal Kingdom is a wonderful park and I personally love it. However, when traveling with my baby there’s much to be desired compared to the other parks (and when staying at a Skyliner resort).  We have a zoo membership at home, so though the Kilimanjaro Safari is unbelievable and the shows like Finding Nemo and Festival of Lion King are pretty epic, there just wasn’t enough to do to warrant a full day at Animal Kingdom with a baby. I hate to admit this, but I also made the mistake of taking him to It’s Tough to Be a Bug thinking that he was young enough for it to not be scary, but boy was I incredibly wrong. This was a huge Mom fail and it took me several hours after to forgive myself for inflicting that kind of trauma on my precious babe. I think Animal Kingdom can be great for toddlers who can be more interactive in The Boneyard and the various trails, but for a baby - it’s just not as engaging as the other three parks. Pro Tip: if you are looking for a place to eat at Animal Kingdom where you can sit down and relax with a baby, we love Yak & Yeti. Aside from the food being absolutely divine, it was like a full out museum inside and was a great place to walk around with the baby while waiting for our meal to be served.

Our best day was actually at Epcot even though I ranked it second. There’s no shortage of things to do with babies at the park AND we were staying at Pop Century with Skyliner Access, which made our park day an actual breeze in terms of convenience for a quick midday nap.

Our first park day of our 7-day trip last fall break, we went to Epcot. Our son’s favorite rides were Remy’s Ratatouille and Frozen Ever After. He loved the songs during Frozen and was really in awe from start to finish. For a Mom who was still nursing, I actually fed him on Spaceship Earth and Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, which was so easy to do and gave me the confidence to nurse him during rides for the remainder of our trip.

Our favorite park to take our son and ranked number 1 is Magic Kingdom. There’s so much to do for babies and toddlers and there’s absolutely nothing more magical than watching your little 9-month old baby crawl on the hub grass in front of Cinderella’s castle. Talk about an amazing photo opp!

At Magic Kingdom there is so much to do - so much that we didn’t have time to do it all. Surprisingly, our son was all smiles, giggles and bounces at the Country Bear Jamboree. This show is sometimes a skip for us, but we were walking by and decided we needed a little sit down break for a few so we opted for it. Thank goodness we did because those statues on the wall were the biggest hit and filled my Mama heart with all the joy. In terms of nursing, I found it really easy to nurse him on The People Mover, Pirates and Mickey’s PhilharMagic. Also surprising to me, he napped on Haunted Mansion, Carousel of Progress and The Hall of Presidents.

Disney has a section on their website that lists all of their rides with height requirements. They make it really easy to filter by park or by height.

Below is a list of all of their attractions without any height requirements that you can use when visiting the parks with a baby.
